Submit Films - OPEN 10/1/08 to 3/14/09
Festival Submissions
You may submit any film that you have created and wish us to consider for screening at the 2008 Festival. Your audience is a rapidly growing number of independent film lovers from the Lehigh Valley and beyond. We select films based on how well the filmmaker tells a cinematic story! Storytelling is the most important criterion for our Jury selection process regardless of budget for production. Each year, in addition to screening independent films of all genres, run times, year of production, etc, we choose a new Cultural Region and also Genre to give audiences a greater appreciation and access many styles and approaches to telling compelling cinematic stories.
2005 Region: Southeast Asia
2005 Genre: "Experimental" of any genre
2006 Region: Eastern Europe
2006 Genre: Animation of all disciplines
2007 Region: South America (from Colombia to Patagonia)
2007 Genre: Dance on Film (any genre or style of dance or film)
2008 Region: Scandinavia & the Nordic Isles
2008 Genre: "Mumblecore" & "Dogma films" 2009 Region:"Displaced Indigenous Peoples Worldwide” - which would encompass stories about Native Americans, refugees, gypsies, et al.
2009 Genre: Silent Films (especially those that can screen with live bands or foley!)
Image over Word (IoW) No competition scheduled for 2009.
This is the only competitive aspect of the Festival, complete with cash prizes. The playing field has been leveled, so to speak, by asking everyone to work from the same script. The jury, and the audience, will select the best storytellers using that script. Image over Word is an adaptation of a theatrical exercise, where actors audition, using varying scripts, to see how flexible they can be in creating characters under different circumstances. Check it out.
Without A Box is the International Film Festival Submission System, designed to save you (and us!) time and money.
